Happy Birthday Nazar!

Happy Birthday Nazar!

"It was the best birthday ever!" Happy news to hear from a child, but it's also bittersweet. Our wonderful Romanian hosts from Richard Wurmbrand School in Iasi knew from our registration records, that Nazar had a birthday coming up. So, they did everything in their power to make sure it was a very happy birthday indeed! Cake, juice, games, songs and funny photos make celebrating your birthday in a refugee shelter almost bearable.

Visiting Kids Today

Today, we also visited the 40 kids and parents we moved to the Village of Hope in Romania. This is actually a plot of land with 6 houses on it. There are house parents in each home, and most families have their own room together. It was great to see and hug so many of the kids, most of whom I had not seen in person since October! Will be glad to see them again, and also go visit a couple of other families who are staying in private homes. Can't wait to get the 17 kids over from Iasi -- just need to move them from one side of Romania to the other! But it's 8 hours with lots of hairpin turns through the mountains! It was even snowing!

Keep praying for our Moms, most of whom are not used to hands-on parenting -- since they allow the orphanage to raise their children. In addition, most of these Moms are heavy smokers & drinkers and they have not had access to those vices for a few weeks. Some of them are coping better than others. One of the houses, has 6 moms and about 20 kids. They are working well as a team -- helping each other with kitchen duties, homework help (for online Ukrainian school) and childcare. We pray that the moms will also be blessed by this time away from their homes in Ukraine. They can teach each other good parenting skills. Pray for continued cooperation as the days go by. Until we get all them out, we will keep evacuating children to safety. Will you help us?

For all of you folks who wrote to us last month, asking if you could host Ukrainians in your home – the time has come! The USA government has launched “Uniting For Ukraine.” This program allows Americans to apply to sponsor Ukrainian evacuees. Once the American hosts are approved, the Ukrainians will be able to create a profile online and if approved, will receive permission to travel to the USA. THERE IS NO COST TO APPLY. However, there is paperwork!

Happy Soldiers…Is there such a thing?

These days, our newscasts are overflowing with countless gut-wrenching photos of Ukrainians – civilians and soldiers alike, suffering terribly. We continue to lift up the country of Ukraine in prayer and ask God for His protection and peace. We send life-saving medicines, support housing & meal programs, deliver food and clothing, and even send supplies to the military. Does any of this make any difference? Does any of it alleviate any suffering?

Camp for a Day!
Camp for a Day!

Zoë & MaryJane’s main mission was to personally deliver 500 pounds of valuable medical supplies to our volunteers near the Romanian / Ukrainian border. Even though they had several fiery darts thrown at them during the 27-hour journey to Romania, God smoothed their path at each turn and brought them and all the bags to safety. After handing off the financial donations and bags to our Ukrainian volunteers, Zoë & MJ started a long zig zag journey across the country (through the Carpathian Mountains) to the other side of Romania. Once they arrived, and were a little bit rested, they were ready to spend some time with our kids and moms there
